What causes Skin Checks and what can trigger it?
- UV radiation: Repeated exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or tanning beds can damage skin cells and increase the risk of skin cancer.
- History of sunburns: Severe or repeated sunburns, particularly during childhood, can increase the risk of developing skin cancer
- Fair skin: People with lighter skin, especially those who burn easily or have difficulty tanning, may have a higher risk.
- History of skin cancer: Individuals who have previously had skin cancer have an increased risk of developing another skin cancer.
- Family history: Having close family members with a history of skin cancer may increase an individual's risk.
- Multiple or atypical moles: Having numerous moles or certain atypical moles can increase the risk of melanoma.
How severe is my Skin Checks?
- Early Stage - Limited to the skin and often easier to treat.
- Advanced Stage - May grow deeper into surrounding tissue or spread to other parts of the body.

- Head-to-toe visual examination
- Dermoscopy of suspicious lesions
- Same-visit biopsy if indicated
- Mole mapping for high-risk patients
