How does it work?
Keloid treatment may combine surgical removal with intralesional therapy and electron brachytherapy to help reduce the risk of the keloid returning.
During treatment, the keloid is surgically removed. Intralesional therapy may be used to help control abnormal scar formation. Electron brachytherapy then delivers a targeted dose of radiation to the treatment area, typically soon after surgery. The radiation is directed at the area where the keloid was removed to help prevent excessive scar tissue from forming again.
The treatment plan is individualized based on the size, location, and characteristics of the keloid.
